My View on Religion

Bristol CathedralDisclaimer: This may be offensive to those with small minds. Only readers with the ability to accept opinions other than their own can truly understand the following ideas.

I must start by saying that I am not a follower of any religion. I am not biased towards any certain sect of scripture, nor do I believe that any religion is better than another. Therefore, I can criticize all religions, but I chose not to. Only the Christian/Catholic church is under my microscope. I never see a Hindu priest on television, tapping people on the head, and telling them that the “demon” is gone from their body. Not once have I ever seen a Jewish community put people on trial for supposed witchcraft. Oh, who was responsible for the Spanish Inquisition? Yes, you know who.

“Thou shalt not have any false Gods before me”. OK, so is Hindu, Judaism, and every other religion wrong in this world? When an American Indian died before the white man came to enslave them, and covert them into Christians, did he go to Christian heaven? Wouldn’t you feel cheated after a life of following the spirits of the land, only to find that your religion was false?

It must be nice to be Catholic… you get to swear, drink, gamble, use the lord’s name in vain, cheat, lie, and commit all the sin you want… but you get to go to confession on Sunday, and you are forgiven. And just when you thought it wasn’t bad enough, the Catholic church makes stuff up! Look in your Bible and show me where the seven deadly sins are mentioned. Find the chapter about Purgatory.

I don’t say that millions of people are wrong, I just want you people to understand that you aren’t totally right. Don’t preach, please. It isn’t your place to do so. Those of you who end you e-mails “Yours in Christ” can feel great knowing that you come from a long line of people who thought they were right.

Salem Witch trials, mass killings of Native Americans after forcing baptisms upon them… so they could die as a Christian, look it up if you don’t believe me. Also, Jerry Falwell, who says love thy neighbor, but expresses hate for the homosexual community.

Instead of the Bible, pick up an encyclopedia the next time you need a little guidance
